Rover
Challenge:
Over the course of four days, engage with an app, critically evaluate its functionality, and identify strategic opportunities for enhancing the overall user experience.
Experience:
As a dog walker for Rover, I have frequently engaged with the app, gaining insight into its usability. The interface is generally intuitive, featuring a consistent color scheme and well-placed help icons. However, there are areas for improvement, such as the excessive number of hidden icons within the messaging section and the organization of conversations with potential clients. Due to time constraints, the primary focus was on a missing feature that could significantly enhance the user experience.
Opportunity:
Walking one or multiple dogs isn’t always seamless, especially with leash-reactive dogs. Checking the app to log activities or track walk duration requires multiple steps, making it difficult to manage dogs safely. A quicker, more accessible solution could prevent distractions that risk dropping the phone or losing control.
Solution:
Develop a widget that compiles the "Rover Card" and activates on the lock screen when a walk begins, streamlining activity logging and walk duration tracking into a single step.
